FAN Adviser Training Programs

FAN training programs prepare ERISA plan advisers, experienced investment professionals and assistants for their respective Fiduciary Adviser roles. The Full Program is designed for investment professionals who meet the requirements and wish to serve as a Fiduciary Adviser. Training is Web based. Live instructors, and other options are available.

Fiduciary Adviser

The Fiduciary Adviser Training component covers the role and responsibilities of the Fiduciary Adviser and the process of selling to an employer. (See outline below)
 

ERISA Basics

The ERISA Training component covers the key areas of ERISA that Fiduciary Advisers are expected to know. This training is limited to knowledge required to advise plan participants and does not include requirements for plan advisers.

Investment Selection

The Investment Selection Training component prepares the adviser to give advice that meets the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPA) standards of generally accepted investment theories within the investment options available in the retirement plan.

Application

The Certification Process provides all the screening and documentation required by plan sponsors in order to meet the fiduciary obligation of prudent selection, periodic reviews and annual audits of a Fiduciary Adviser. Learn more
